Term 4 Week 8 27.11.2023 - 1.12.2023
Pool Keys Info
Volunteers Needed:
We are again looking at hiring out pool keys for the summer. First of all we need a number of whanau who can be trained and rostered to ensure that the pool chemicals are tested twice daily, vacuuming done, backwash done, chlorine changed if required, tidy the area and fill pool if required. We have had one volunteer already and need at least another three to spread the workload.
This is an important health and safety requirement as we need to ensure the pool is clean and meets the appropriate levels of chemicals and cleanliness.
If we do not get volunteers, we will not be able to have keys supplied.
If we get enough whanau, we will have keys available from Wednesday next week. The hireage of a key is as set out below:
Refundable Bond on return of the key: $50 Hire: $40 (Total: $90). This will need to be cash at the front office.
We have increased costs due to the large number of keys not returned, the ongoing cost for new locks, cost for keys being cut and use of chemicals.

Teachers Only Day
On Friday, we had a Teachers Only Day, where Lucy Pavitt and Shona Thompson led the team in unpacking Te Mataiaho / The Refreshed Curriculum, how this links to the school/kura currently and new learnings around this. In the 2024 there will be whanau hui to look at Te Mataiaho and what this means for Whenaukite.
Secret Santa
We have decided that classes will not have secret santa this year. We understand that whanau have a range of beliefs, may not be interested in this and finances are stretched at this time of the year. We have shared with the children we are not doing this, and that at school they cannot organise this amongst themselves. If children wish to give a friend a gift, that is up to them, and can be done outside of school.
Final Weeks of Term
Please support your tamariki to show the K.I.T.E. Values in the last few weeks of school. Children are tired at this time of the year, and irratablilty increases.
We have a lot of activities coming to the end of the term. Please keep an eye on the calendar and the upcoming bars list.
