Special Board of Trustees Update
Update from the Presiding Member
Kia Ora School Whanau
Firstly, a big thank you to all of those who contributed to the new Principal Survey. Similarly, a huge thank you for your participation in the School Board of Trustees election for the three parent representatives. A total of 111 responses were received. The successful nominations were Madelyn Benn, Sophie Hayward and Tim Stephens. We were very fortunate to have had six high-quality applicants. Heartfelt thanks to the departing BoT members in particular Crystal, Rochelle, Deirdre, Davor and Melissa.
A huge thank you to our Board secretary Carmen who has done an outstanding job running the Board election as returning officer. It was a big task and Carmen's usual attention to detail was to the fore. Thank you to Donna who helped with the counting and final tally.
Congratulations to the three new BoT members and sincere thanks to all of the nominees. The new members now complete an almost entirely new board and bring with them a wide range of skills and experience. The Board is fully committed to supporting our school students, our staff, the Principal and the wider school community.
The Community survey was helpful in informing the Board on community requirements for their new Principal and we look forward to working closely with the new Principal and the school community in the new year.
This week we shortlist and then interview the applicants for the role of Principal. I hope to be in a position to advise you of the successful applicant late this week or early next week.
