Term 3, Week 6 26/8/2024 - 30/8/2024
From the Principal's Desk
Greetings Parents, Caregivers and Whanau, Week 6, Friday 30th of August 2024
Another amazing week in paradise, how lucky are we to live in an area that our community shows our K.I.T.E values. Thanks everyone for pitching in to allow us to run these extra events.
School Timetable
We have made a slight adjustment to the daily school hours. The school day will now start at 8.55am and finish at 2.55pm. This adjustment has been made to work in with the bus timetable.
Fathers Day
A huge thanks to Karin for organising the Fathers Day breakfast. A special mention to Nicola, Shona, Kim, Viv and all staff members for helping in some way. We also had students preparing, cooking, serving and cleaning from 6.30am, thanks to Alex, Maddie, Awana, Ella and others who helped during the day. Below are some snapshots from the day. We wish all families a great Father's day and enjoy the first day of Spring as a family.
Kapa haka practice afternoon
On Monday our kapa haka group will be performing for Country Kids and the other children at our school, Country Kids will then showcase their kapa haka set. If any parents would like to come along for this dress rehearsal you are most welcome. It will start at 11.30am and be around 30 minutes.
Cultural Festival
Next Thursday morning those involved in the Cultural Festival will head off to Whangamata at 8.00am sharp, please make sure you are at school by 7.45 am. We will have Donna, Jo, Kim, Sue, Leigh, Mrs Collins, and Deirdre van Beynen at school to cover the students who are not attending the cultural festival.
We expect to return to school by 3pm, however if we are running late parents will be informed via text and parents will need to pick up children from school.
Attendance and Engagement
This is a focus area for improvement as we look at strategies to improve engagement in learning. We can only help improve learning if students are at school. If your child is away, as parents we have a legal obligation to contact the school. If we know the reason we can often help in some way.
Enrolment Scheme
We (the teaching team) are going through the process of organsing classes for 2025 - placement of students. We will have 7 classes and we are working on the best possible balance for each class. As we have predicted the roll to sit around 150 students for the next few years we do have spaces for students that might be out of our enrolment scheme area. If interested in coming to our school please request an enrollment pack from the office. If you are out of the zone you would then go into a ballot system for the spaces we have.
