Greetings Parents, Caregivers and Whanau, Week 9, 20th September 2024
Recent Achievements
Last week we took 14 students to the AIMS Games with Chris Bailey who took the first-ever Year 7/8 Boys for the football. They should be proud of he Legacy they have created for the students to be involved with.
Near completion of the technology room by Mats Shed. We still need a ranch slider/bifold doors, size no more than 2.4m wide and no taller than 2.1m to allow entry from the side where we can store and cut materials. If you have something like this please let me know. A huge thanks to Neville again for lining the interior walls and Richard at Interpower for putting in the electrical.
Work has begun for Room 1's Sensory Garden. A huge thanks to Ngaire, Helena, Mat and senior students for putting up the playhouse/storage shed for this area. We are now looking for resources/materials like round fence posts, large rope, large boulders, stepping stones, shells and other natural materials.
The Maori po - entranceway into the school being completed with new signage for the carpark area.
Next week we will be updating everyone on overall achievements and progress made in teaching and learning.
School Timetable
We have made a slight adjustment to the daily school hours. The school day will now start at 8.55am and finish at 2.55 pm. This adjustment has been made to work with the bus timetable. Please ensure children are ready for the bus on time or are dropped off at school by 8.50am allowing them time to get settled in.
Car parking
We are making changes and upgrades in this area and we are just waiting for costings to come in. In the meantime please read and follow the new signage that is up. There is NO parking at All times just outside the entrance gates (from the letterbox to the start of the court fencing. This must stay free for easier access and safety for everyone).

Cultural Festival
85 out of 150 students from Whenuakite school went to the Whangamata Cultural Festival. At about 8:30 am we got there and we had some food and then went and watched other schools in the Peninsula performing there to When it was our turn we got on our costumes and went into the waiting area…
It was the most nerve breaking five minutes of my life. When the door finally opened and we walked on to the stage we started our Kapa Haka routine. When we really got Into it it felt pretty normal. We were so loud that our voices echoed around the hall. When we finished our six songs There was a massive round of applause.
Then we walked off the stage when we got out everyone was so happy they threw their poi up in the air. Once we had some food and the teachers said how proud they were. It was time for me to go, we didn't leave straight away, first we went to Sunnys, Coin Save and the op shop, which was really fun and then we embarked on the long drive home. When we got back I was so happy to just be home again.
So please start kapa haka and come to the Cultural Festival next year The end By Archie Hansby

Congratulations to all of our amazing students who gave their all with such passion, determination and enthusiasm last night to successfully make the next step in their karate journey.
Thank you to our senior students who not only earned their brown belts, but showed support throughout the evening of the previous ranks. This is the true spirit of karate.
A big shout out to the amazing whanau who not only stayed to support their own children, but embraced the club as a whole and created an atmosphere of absolute community throughout the evening. It really was appreciated by all.
Again, congratulations to all, and we look forward to continuing to share this journey with you all.
