Whenuakite School Newsletter - Term 3, Week 9 - 11.09.2023
Matariki Production
Well done to all of our Tamariki - you were amazing.
K.I.T.E. Korero from our Tumuaki
Kia Ora Whanau
What an absolutely brilliant week we had last week.
Well done and thank you to Mrs Thompson for creating an OUTSTANDING Production. This was well-written and incredibly well organised.
Thank you to the amazing team of staff who supported the show, developed acts for their respective Matariki Stars, and encouraged the tamariki to participate fully.
Thank you to our whanau and extended whanau who showed up in force to support the show. We had 48 people (from WCK and our staff) at the dress rehearsal, 98 at the first show, 110 at the second show and 112 at the third show. This is an outstanding 368 people who attended and enjoyed the show.
Finally - thank you to all of our tamariki. Everyone played a role in making the show happen, from costume design and creation, acting, sound technician, stage hands etc. Everyone played such an important role, and the show was just spectacular.
We have had a number of whanau ask if this will be an annual show. Whilst we would love to do this annually, the workload is not sustainable; however, we will be looking at making it a part of the calendar and holding it every two years. Let's go 2025.
We have only two weeks of Term 3 remaining. It has been an incredibly busy term, with so many opportunities for our tamariki. I could not be prouder of the children and the team. Well done to everyone.
We do have a few more events leading into the end of this term and we encourage whanau to come back and support the tamariki.
Next Week: We have the CYBER SAFETY EVENT at the Area School, Kids VS Staff Netball, Pet Day, and Waikato Cross Country Championships.
Cultural Festival:
We have decided that with so much on this term, time out of class, and late/unforeseen requests for changes to our performances, we will not participate in the Coromandel Schools Kapa Haka Festival. A letter will be sent to all whanau of the Senior School regarding this tomorrow.
Out of Office:
For the next two days, Tuesday and Wednesday, I will be supporting my daughter Sophie, and MBAS on their Year 7/8 Tramp / Camp. I will be back on Thursday...very tired and sore.
Special Letter:
There will be a BOT update letter coming out this evening. This contains some important information. Please take the time to have a look at 5:30pm (approx) when it is sent out.

Purchase Yummy apples, either bags with cut-out labels or individual apples with Yummy stickers. One cut-out label is worth 10 apple stickers. Place the Yummy sticker sheet (available at the office).
It relies on the support of parents and friends to get behind the children and eat ‘YUMMY’ apples. Getting free sports gear in return is an awesome way for our school to boost our sports resources.
Buy apples with the ‘YUMMY’ stickers only and stick them on the sheets. It is as simple as it sounds! Parents, grandparents, friends and children collect the Yummy cut-out labels and/or stickers and we send them into the Yummy Fruit Company, swapping them for Rebel Sports Equipment. Children do not have to physically sell anything but simply eat healthy apples and have fun collecting stickers.
