Parent/Caregiver Survey - Achievement and future actions
Last week, every family should have received the Results for the "Whenuakite Parent/Caregiver 3 Year Survey". This information is also on our school website. This information is critical in supporting the school and BoT on making positive changes. We have made significant efforts toward fostering student growth and academic success. Our teaching staff remain committed to providing high-quality learning aligned with the evolving educational standards.
It is important to note that a decrease in reported achievement outcomes is anticipated this year. This is primarily due to the implementation of a new curriculum and updated assessment and reporting frameworks. These changes reflect a more rigorous and detailed approach to evaluating student learning, which may result in lower reported results in the short term. However, this shift ensures a more accurate and comprehensive understanding of student progress and aligns our reporting with national expectations.
We remain confident that these changes will lead to stronger learning outcomes over time as students, teachers, and families adjust to the new standards being phases of learning. Our focus continues to be on individual growth, critical thinking, and lifelong learning skills.
Production
As we have critical staff members away from school over the next three weeks. We are having to postpone the Aotearoa production from this term to next term. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. Our new timeframe is week 4 of term 3.
Teacher Aide positions
We have now completed the interviews and decision on the fixed-term teacher aide positions. We had several excellent applicants, and everyone who was interviewed is now on our teacher aide relievers list.
Congratulations to Heidi Gordon and Tineke Hert for gaining a fixed-term contract as teacher aides in our school.
Bus runs and lists
We work hard to ensure students are on the bus list and the bus monitors check them on the bus. If your child will not be on the bus we do need to know. Please contact the office - Donna as early as possible, if your child is away or now going to sports and not needing to be on the bus.
Cool Schools programme
Last Friday Christina Barruel -Head of Peace Education - The Peace Foundation - Aotearoa - New Zealand took the training for us. Chistina helped us understand more about the Cool Schools programme, which will help us teach all students about the programme and then train our Peer Mediators to help with conflict resolution.

Sport

The U12s had an absolute blinder of a match against Te Rerenga on Saturday, taking the win 6-0. There were some beautiful goals by player of the day Jesse, Zeke, Levi and Jaxon with a hat trick! Reiver did a stellar job in goal along with our defensive line, to keep the opposition scoreless. It was awesome to see the team come together, and play so well, keep it up!!

The U10 Red Rockets won their home game this week against the Mercury Bay Orcas 5-1! What a fantastic effort by the whole team, you should be so proud! Congratulations to Raala and Valerie who were the Players of the Day.

U6 took on Te Rerenga at home for our first home game, so much fun was had by all. Player of the day was Jack Carter and Riley Macken.

Wow what a night for a netball game! Rain, 40 km wind and no subs didn't put these girls off!
The Networks v Te Rerenga Shoot n Stars
Score 2 - 22 to Shoot n Stars
Player of the day went to Awana for keeping two hands on the ball and boxing out the opposition.
The team is really coming along, putting what they learn at practice into game day.
