Term 2, Week 7, 9/6/2025 - 13/6/2025
From the Principal's Desk
Kia ora kotou katoa, Greetings Parents and Caregivers
With only 2 weeks to go in this term, we are working hard on our learning and assessments. These will help our teachers with their Overall Teacher Judgements (OTJ's) for the student reports that go out in term 3 followed by parent/teacher interviews. All students must attend so we can complete these assessments. We are in the process of planning term 3 learning activities. If you are aware of any local events, please let us know and we can try to add to the Term Overview.
Celebrations
To follow on from the mahi - hard work by our students/families with fundraising, we have gained an extra $15,000 for the minivan from Aotearoa Gaming Trust. This gets us close to covering the cost of the minivan.
We gained funding from EnviroSchools for projects in the junior school to create a sensory garden. This project will start in term 3 and be led by Miss Lucy and Room 3.
We would also like to thank the Hahei Library for their kind donation of additional books for our students and our library.
Production
As we have staff members away from school next week. We are having to postpone the Aotearoa production from this term to next term. Our new timeframe is week 5 of term 3.
Bus runs and lists
We work hard to ensure students are on the bus list, and the bus monitors check them on the bus. If your child will not be on the bus, we do need to know. Please contact the office - Donna as early as possible, if your child is away or now going to sports and not needing to be on the bus.
BOT Elections
The election for the new Board Of Trustees (BOT) happens in September. Please be aware that we do need new members to join our team. Please contact us if interested, and you are more than welcome to come to our BOT meetings. Our next meeting date is at school in Room 4 on Thursday, 26th of June at 3.30pm.

Our annual School Carnival isn’t just a fun-filled day of games, food, and community—it’s a vital fundraiser that raises up to $40,000 each year for our tamariki. That’s right—other principals and teachers dream of having something like this!
This incredible event helps fund the extras that truly elevate our children’s education, like new tech, sports gear, creative arts programs, shade sails, and playground upgrades. None of this would be possible without our amazing fundraising team.
We meet just once a month, and while yes, we get the job done—there’s also banter, laughs, and a real sense of fun and connection. It’s a team effort, and we need some fresh faces to help steer the ship:
🎪 Stalls Manager – Organise and oversee our epic range of stalls. You don’t need experience—just good vibes, a love for community spirit, and a stalls management system that comes with the role, plus a full handover and support until October (when most bookings are already locked in). This can totally be a two-person job—teaming up makes it easier and way more fun!
🫶 Volunteers Manager – Coordinate our incredible team of parent helpers on the day. If you’re friendly and a great communicator, this one’s for you!
👥 Shadow Roles for Chairperson & Treasurer – Walk alongside our current team this year so you’re confident and ready to take the reins next time. It’s a smooth handover, and you’ll be supported every step of the way.
✨ This is more than volunteering—it’s your chance to make a real difference, leave your mark, and be part of something other schools wish they had.
Even if you’re just a little curious—reach out! Let’s keep the magic (and the money!) going. 💛

Sport

The Fireballs Yr 5/6 Netball - it was a moist night at the courts on Weds and our Fireballs played in some of the toughest conditions yet! Up against the Te Renenga Taniwhas, a very good team who are always challenging under any circumstances. Our Girls started strong with good attack in the circle and great passing through mid court. Stand out performances in our defence game with Seazyn and Kaia working well together, tips and intercepts galore! Both Ava’s played very well, as did all the girls but alas, the Taniwhas goals were on fire and won this tough game 22-5. Well done Fireballs, loved seeing the keen, committed attitude you are bringing every week - keep it up! Well done to Seazyn being awarded Player of the Day for her amazing defense 👍🏻

U6 football team had their first mini kickers tournament in Tairua. We played 4 games and all had a great time! Player of the day went to Maddie Spyve and Arlo Morcom.
U10 Dragons - Well done Dragons
We have put the pre-season panic and confusion behind us now, and we are getting used to our positions and starting to work as a choice team. By the end of the season, we'll be a well-oiled machine.
Good home game on Saturday against a well-organised Te-rerenga team, Both teams showing good skills and promise.
Well done to Seth, our player of the day, and our positive vibes player, Hugo.
Looking forward to an all-Whenuakite showdown against the Rockets at home this Saturday.
See ya there

Whenuakite U10 Red Rockets:
The Red Rockets had an amazing game this weekend winning 9-1 against the Tairua Tigers. Congratulations to Player of the Days: Luke Graham and Kassi Pearce
Whenuakite U12s:
The Under 12s had a fantastic game against Tairua. It was a real nail biter of a game with so many close shots at goal. But the final score was a 1-1 draw. We'll done to our Player of the Day Zeke Palmer.
